Cherokee Princess Dogwood Plant Description Cherokee Princess Dogwood is a small deciduous tree native to the Eastern United States. Its pale green foliage changes to red-brown in fall before falling and is loaded with red berries.. Cherokee Princess Dogwood is an excellent tree for lawns and gardens because of its relatively small size. In early spring, Cherokee Princess Dogwood treats us to numerous bright white flowers that attract bees and butterflies. Cherokee Princess Dogwoods do best in moist, acidic soil and enjoy full sun. Boyd Nursery advices caution when watering your dogwood in the morning. Do not under any circumstances wet Dogwood foliage in the morning, as wet foliage makes ideal conditions for certain diseases. Planting Instructions - Dig a hole three times the diameter of the root system, with a depth no deeper than the original soil line on trunk. Break up the soil to the finest consistency possible. Place plant in hole and fill, compacting the fill dirt. Water the plant heavily to seal soil around the roots and remove air pockets. Fertilize according to the recommendation of your local agriculture extension agents, or fertilize based on your own knowledge and experience. We DO NOT ship to states West of the Rocky Mountains.
